Granddaughter Weekend!

I left early this morning to pick up Jorden ... sure is great to have her visit!

She couldn't wait to get on her glittery blue shoes and her crown, even wearing it to work to help me for awhile... such a silly girl..gotta love her!

She found one of the giant tissue paper flowers as well... fits her outfit! *lol*

Tonight we made our own deluxe pizzas, and Jorden made one for herself too.

Cheese Pizza!
Kasey made hers with a pepperoni smiley face on it.. *l*

Ready to bake!
While they were baking, Jorden did a costume change into her ballerina outfit.  And a little dancing with Grandpa John too!

A fun filled day, and night!

Art Reach & Mission - A Spiritual Journey

Thanks to the ladies of Creek Road Community Church, Delavan, for inviting me to be your presenter at your wonderful Women's Salad Dinner Event, and Art Show!

I took some of my assemblage art, set it up in the afternoon, and then enjoyed a wonderful salad dinner, served by the men of their Church.  My Mom, and daughter, and Aunt Shirley, and a friend Pat, came along to it as well.  There were many familiar faces there as well.

It was probably the biggest group I'd ever presented to ...about 90+ women stayed for the program, which was just me telling about how I did my "art", and what inspired me, explaining some of the pieces, and then the ladies going around viewing others and reading the meditations by each one.

I was a bit nervous doing this presentation, and afterward could think of all kinds of things I should have said, or could have said, better... remembering that for hopefully, another time.  *S*
Thank you Creek Road Community, and Bonnie, who had the idea to bring my art presentations to you!

Butterflies Hatching Like Crazy!!

The butterflies I've been raising at Church (80 - 90 of them for Pentecost release), since April 22nd, started hatching late last week, but by today, almost ALL of them are out now!!

I had set up the bigger net for them to be in, in Father John's office...thankfully he was okay with that!

And here are some of the butterflies feasting on cantalopes (they like the juice), and also some sugar water sprinkled carnations.

They also like to congregate in the corner of the net closest to the window, and the sun.

So, now I just need to keep them alive for a week until we release them on Pentecost Sunday, May 19th!

Happy Birthday Party for Jake, Josh & Jeff!

Not only did we celebrate Mother's Day today, but later in the day, we went over to John and Janel's and celebrated a joint birthday party for the grandsons, Jake, Josh and Jeff.  They have their birthdays within a few weeks of each other, so often there is a mass birthday party celebration.

Can't believe they are growing up so fast!  John and Janel had set up tables in their garage for both sides of the family to congregate in.  After a picnic dinner, the boys opened their gifts from everyone.

One of the things the grandsons found they liked to eat, being at our house once when we had them, were crab claws.  So for part of their gift from us, we gave each of them 4 crab claws, and told them directions in cooking them.  (Especially since some asked to have them on various overnight visits often!)   But, I think they liked the cash gifts they got in their cards better.. *L*

Happy Birthday dear Grandsons!!  We love YOU!!!

Mother's Day 2013

Started the day with the Sunday School kids, and grateful for Kasey, Chellie and Teresa for the help with making gifts from the kids for their Mom's!  It was a hectic, but fun time, making giant tissue paper flowers!

The Annual Mother's Day Champagne Brunch put on by the men of Christ Church is always a big hit!
The men go all out to honor the women.  We each received a rose during the Church service, and then were treated to some delicious food, champagne or juice, followed by the Annual Basket Drawings.

Here are some of the guys who honored the women...  It's sad to not see Dad in the photo...he always was a big part of the Mother's Day Brunch, and enjoyed doing it too.  Thankful for the friends and family in the photo...Terry, Dan, Mark, John, Mark, Ron and Mike, and all the men who helped!

I was also happy to have all three of our kids (and DIL too!) with us today at Church and the Brunch, along with the grandsons too!

And of course my own Mom, shown here with sister, Harriett.

It was a delicious brunch, and fun basket drawing afterward too!
Brother-in-law Bill helps conduct the basket drawing for some lucky ticket holders.

And I was blessed as well to have some great gifts from our kids...but even more, I am blessed to have some great kids!!    Kasey decided we needed to do some fun photos ... *lol*

After the brunch we went out to Mom's and helped plant some of her planters, tagged things for an upcoming rummage sale she was going to be a part of, and had a late lunch with the family.

It was a great Mother's Day!

Super Hero Kid's Nite

This was a fun event we did for kids at our Church.  Originally it was scheduled to be held in April, but with my Dad's funeral on that day, we postponed it a month.  So last night we entertained 14 SUPER kids!  And 5 SUPER adults too!

I was busy getting props and stuff set up for it over the last week or more ...
Made these "brick blocks" from boxes that I wrapped with paper, then spray painted to try to make it look like bricks....  I am not a very good brick mason..*L*  But once I got them stacked up, with a few signs on them, they didn't look too bad, (they were used as a game to show their super strength!)

I had made some super hero Jesus capes months ago, that we used as well for some of our spiritual armor games, but I had to make a few more as well.. .from old t-shirts, cut apart, then made an iron-on transfer and tah-dah!  SUPER HERO CAPES!

Some fun super hero tootsie pops with lifesavers added to the stick too, as a treat for the kids to enjoy later in the evening.

Kryptonite Jello with Pop Rock Candies added to them just before serving were a fun taste sensation!

The kids used their "super powers" to make their own super pizzas...

While pizzas were baking, the kids displayed their super flying abilities in some photo ops!  Flying over tall buildings... heh-heh!

After dinner, we talked some about who our heroes were.

Then talked about THE Super HERO, JESUS!  And about "putting on Christ" in our lives.
About the spiritual armor we can put on to give us the strength we need in all sorts of situations we face in life.  (See Ephesians 6:10-18)

We had some fun games associated with that too, using silly string, balloons, straws, q-tips, shields and more!
A super bunch of heroes!
And then it was time for making super sundaes!!

After building up their strength with ice cream, it was time to demonstrate their strength!

Knocking down the brick wall, and building it up again.... and again... and again....
After that, it was time to rest with a movie, snacks and juice!

A fun night... thanks SUPER HEROES and SUPER ADULTS too!!
