The Search Begins.....
At the Annual Parish Meeting this morning, the Search Committee was introduced. I am on in an advisory capacity, since I can answer a lot of the questions regarding various things going on in the Church if it is needed. The Committee has a loooong road ahead, busy one and an important one too. Pictured Back row: Me, Ron, Mark, Jerry (my Dad!), Jean and Patricia. Front: Ashley, Marlyne.
It should probably take 8 - 12 months or more before we'll have a new priest for Christ Church. Please pray for our committee and our Church through this transition time... thanks!
Prayers for our Transition & Parish:
O Faithful God, As Your people, we cherish our memories and our history as a sacred inheritance. Guide us in this time of transition with Your wisdom and knowledge.
Strengthen our hearts to say goodbye to what is past and to face the future without fear. Open our hearts to know Your goodness in new ways. Bring us together as one people in Your Holy Spirit.
Help us to stay faithful to Your call, To stand up as a community of faith in this place, To pursue justice and peace for the poor and oppressed, To pray and care for the sick, the lonely and at risk, And by the power of the Holy Spirit to follow the Gospel call "Be not afraid." Amen.
Prayer for Search Commitee:
Almighty and ever-living God, look favorably upon us, the people of Christ Church, Delavan, in this transition as we search for a new rector. We pray for the life of our parish, that we may continue to be guided by Your love and strengthened in our mission to serve You through ministry, fellowship and worship. We pray for the search committee, that their hearts and minds may be open to what Your Spirit is saying. We pray for the priest whose name is known to You, that he/she be open to Your call. Give us Your grace to follow where You lead us, and grant us Your peace. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Baked Goods for a Good Cause... Homeless Shelter Bowling & Bake Sale Benefit
Did some baking this morning for a fund raiser ... and such a DEAL these were!! And delicious as well! Yummmmmmm!
The Homeless Shelter's benefit helped raise money, and awareness at the Delavan Lanes tonight.
Early estimates are they raised close to $2,000!
The Walworth County Emergency Overnight Men's Shelter runs from Sept. through May each year, at various church sites who host the men during evening hours, give them dinner, breakfast and a sack lunch each night. More host sites are needed, please prayerfully consider your Church or organization for this ministry too!

Art Milwaukee * Art Jamboree Night
John and I, and friends Sue and Randy, attended this event tonight at the historic Loyalty Building, Hilton Garden Inn, in downtown Milwaukee.
Our daughter Kasey (Kasey K Photo) had won an online Art Milwaukee contest and one of the prizes was being able to display the winning entry and have a display at this event. The photo she displayed, along with the creative effort that went into it, in collaboration with her artist friend, John Kowalczyk, included a video slide show, and business cards and flyers.
Kasey's display table |
It was an interesting show! Art Milwaukee estimated over 1500 people came to the event over the course of the evening.
performance art drama group |
There was art of ALL kinds featured, here are some of the photos from it.
Some of the art we couldn't get close enough to see, to get an idea what it was all about, but it was interesting to see the varieties of ideas and creativities.
With live painting, drama, music, photography, installations, sculptures and more.
Some kind of musical apples installation? I think? |

proud parents with Kasey. Great job Kasey!! |

My 2012 Year Condensed to a Table of Papers and Packets...
Been spending all month getting ready for the upcoming Annual Parish Meeting, this Sunday at Church.
Anyway, I am soooo glad the report packets are done!
Now to enjoy the weekend, and get past the Annual Meeting!
But first an Art Show & dinner with friends, Bowling and Striking out Homelessness Fund Raiser and enjoying some down time!
Ready to collate & put into packets. |
Lots of reports of ministries, treasurer reports of all kinds, thanksgivings for 2012, elections for the new year and looking forward to where God is taking us with the search for a new rector in 2013 too.
Sooo... here, on one table, is most of what I did last year..*L* .. kind of like a Thanksgiving Dinner ... takes a long time to prepare and serve up, and then the participants "gobble" it up in about an hour or so. *L*
Condensed into packets for easy consumption..*lol* |

What's old is always becoming new to others...
Funny how some ideas are carried on and on and on for generations ... timeless designs in furniture ideas for example. A Facebook artist friend posted this photo on FB...
And I immediately recalled a photo of me and two of my sisters from about 53-54 years ago. My dad made a similar table when we were little kids, and they still have it and use it!
Here we are, standing around it ..... sister Susan, Me and sister Chellie... (eventually I went on to have a total of 6 sisters and 1 brother!)
I think my Mom must have made my dress from the sofa cushion material..haha!!

Walworth County Emergency Overnight Homeless Shelter
Full house this week at the Shelter! |
Cots set up in the Parish Hall at Christ Episcopal for the Shelter. |
John and I signed on to make the dinner tonight ... potroast with carrots, onions and potatoes. I dropped off the 4 roasts and 10 lbs of cooked potatoes and carrots a little after 6 p.m., since it is so cold outside the security people came in early so the guys could come in earlier too. The men are usually pretty helpful, often helping at the site locations, this week one of the guys spent 3 hours helping restock the Christ Church Food Pantry shelves and organizing it. Many have jobs, but no extra money for rent or a place to stay. Please keep the Shelter, the guests and Church Sites and Volunteers in your prayers!
And, if you are around Delavan on January 26th come to the Bowling Fund Raiser for the Shelter ... Strike Out Homelessness! It's a fun night, and you don't have to bowl to participate .. lots of food, raffles, bake sale and more! Check out the link and ways you can help!
BTW, The Shelter can always use volunteers at any location site, write, email or call for more information here:
