Shopping Saturday - Treasures & Veggies

Here are a few of the treasures I found shopping today (a couple from last night at Good Will too) . I stopped at a GoodWill store in Janesville on my way to Hobby Lobby, where tons of stuff was 50% off!! Stocked up on needed items, and things I just couldn't pass up too! Hoping to get in some art time tomorrow afternoon!

Also stopped at the local veggie stand and picked up sweetcorn, tomatoes and green beans... it's a veggie dinner tonite! Yummmmmm ... simmering green beans, enough for leftovers tomorrow too!

Happy Early Birthday Dinner!

Fun time tonite - celebrating daughter-in-law, Janel's, birthday a few days early. Started out at Kohl's, where we picked out the gift that John and Janel decided they'd like as a joint birthday gift... a 3 inch thick memory foam bed topper, and some memory gel foam pillows too! And they felt so comfortable and gushy that I HAD to get one for myself too! *L* Then we all went to Chili's for birthday dinner... yummy and fun nite~!

After a fast trip to pick up the newsletter in New Berlin, and of course a fast stop at the Good Will Store on the way, I now can't wait to try out that pillow! *L*

DHS Class of 1949 - Celebrating 80th Birthdays

This afternoon was an open house sponsored by the Delavan High School class of 1949. My Dad was one of the classmates who gathered with others to celebrate their 80th birthdays. Relatives and friends were invited to come and celebrate with them, so John and I went.

It was fun seeing all Dad's and Mom's friends, many who we knew since we were kids. Some of them were my teachers in school, and the classmates often had family gatherings where all the kids would have a great time too. I worked with some of them as well at Citizen's Bank for many years. A few of my own classmates and friends were there to honor their parents too, a fun time catching up with them.

My Mom was also in the Class of 49, but at the rival Elkhorn High School. Here she is with Nancy, who I also worked with at Citizen's Bank for 14 years.

What a fun turn-out from the community as well, honoring them all! Happy 80th to all!!

Class Reunion Continues....

Saturday night pig roast and dance, although not many danced... but it was a lot of fun catching up with everyone, and good to see even more classmates last night!

Thanks to Rita who hosted us at her Arbor Vista barn! Everything was great!!

Thanks to all the classmates who made the weekend 40th Reunion so much fun!! Looking forward to the next one in 5 years!

DDHS Class of 71 Reunion - More Fun!

After a few hours of work this morning, we headed to classmate Lynn's house for lunch and a pool party. It was HOT and muggy, but still a lot of fun! Not too many swam, but we sat around the pool and had fun! What a great house, pool and yard Joe and Lynn have, and so nice to open it up to us!

We had fun looking through old yearbooks and photos, remembering those years past...man, how time flies!!

Lynn and Joe have a HUGE couple of dogs, here is the russian wolfhound, the size of a horse!

Looking forward to going to the pigroast and barn dance tonight!! Loving this reunion and all the old friends!

Assemblage Entries for a Deadline Today at ECVA

Glad that we were able to get home early today, and that I had time to finish some assemblages I left while on vacation.

I sent in the following entries for the Call for Entries at ECVA.

This one I had already done long ago, except that I added a bible to the hand instead of the rosary. Titled L'dor V'dor (from generation to generation).

And this one was a photo taken during our vacation ...

"Build there an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool upon them." Deuteronomy 27:5

... and this one I was working on bit by bit for the last few weeks before we left on vacation ... here are in the process of, and finished project... titled "Agnus Dei" (Lamb of God).

I have artist statements for each one that fit the category for the Call... so hoping to get one at least chosen for the online exhibition.

It was good to get into art creation again!! I missed that!

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig....

Up early to pack up and head home ... as you can see, Kasey was not happy to leave either..*L* I'm so glad we aren't all that far from home, not like when we used to go 6 hours north - I dreaded that ride home...but 2 hours isn't bad. We got home about noon, took an hour to unload all the junk from the truck and trailer, sort thru it, put it away, and start the many loads of laundry ... ughhh... this is the worst part of vacations! *l*

BUT, getting home early allows me to get some art projects done for the deadline today of the ECVA Call for Entries. Off to do art!! YAY!

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y!! Yep, still on vacation!

John got up early today and went to the family breakfast at Pelnar's campsite, but Kasey and I slept in, relaxed, and took it slow.

Saturdays on our vacation are days we usually head to town and explore some stores, etc. So we headed first to the antique and crafter's mall in the Dells... which John just LOVED! - NOT! *lol* I found a few cool things to use in some upcoming assemblages, and some yummy pecan peanut brittle.

Then we headed over to Ho-Chunk to try our luck at the slots.

Here is a photo of two LOSERS!! *L* Ahh well, we still had about 3 hours of fun, and didn't lose much.

John was a bit lucky however, and we spent a few dollars of his winnings, but ended up losing that too, so we took his winnings and headed back to the campground.

We ate up all the leftovers we had in the refrigerator for lunch, swam some, sat on the deck, and wished the vacation could go on for another week!

Tomorrow it's pack up and head home day..... ugh!!
